It’s a bold statement, but it’s real. Let’s get the facts straight, though. I’m not a blogging guru. I have not mastered the zen secrets to traffic generation so large that social networks around the world shake as though a herd of elephants is charging through every time I launch a new post. In fact, Michelle and I are investigating and learning from some of the gurus we respect the most, not just for their results but also for the above-board ways they achieve them.
So what qualifies Michelle and I to make such strong statements? Is this hype for our new products?
No. It’s not hype at all. If anything, I’ve toned down the numbers I have on my desk from real situations, because I’m concerned some people will find them too staggering to believe. Michelle and I are experts in intangible assets, namely intellectual property (patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets). More specifically, our expertise is rooted in monetization dynamics of intangible assets (IA) and intellectual property (IP). We are not attorneys; we are the business side of the house - the side that answers the questions of IP and IA, “what is this worth and how do I get what it is worth?”
Blogs are intangible assets. The vast majority of them are worthless because they are not monetized by their owners. They are hobbies, diaries or voices that exist for non-commercial purposes. Nevertheless, they are also intangible assets. Other sites are very valuable. The most valuable blog today will soon be looked upon as a bargain deal when compared the norms of blog values soon to come.
Why? Because the economic monster that is scaring the socks off investors and consumers today will drive economic opportunity - assets, transactions, deals, channels, partners and more - into the open arms of the bloggers. Bloggers will have opportunities to start new companies, expand existing corporate reach for corporate blogs, and build personal investment/estate portfolios that deflect the Wall Street debacle as though it were merely a raindrop hitting a solid umbrella. And yes, I am writing this on October 8, 2008 with full knowledge of the meltdown in progress.
We have been watching, opining on and measuring intangible asset and intellectual property trends for years. We also know how to take action on what we see. I did my first IP license deal nearly 18 years ago, and we have owned and led an IP advisory company for nearly 8 years now. You can see more about our professional backgrounds in other places on this blog, the landing pages of our eCourse offerings and the IP Launch company website. NOTE: This is NOT an opportunity for bloggers to exploit those hurt by the downturn. This is not an opportunity for entrepreneurial looting of those unable to help themselves. This is an opportunity for bloggers to become a part of the overall economic solution and to do so in a way that not only helps others but also creates profitable revenue streams at the same time.
If you are concerned about your income source in this turbulent economy, or if you would like to better monetize your blog efforts, I strongly encourage you to check out our free eCourse on IP entitled, “What Every Entrepreneur Should Know About Intellectual Property In A Meltdown Economy.” It is 100% FREE. Regardless of where you are in the world of blogging, it is worth a minute for you to review the contents of our other eCourse, “The Coming Economic Boom For Bloggers.” This one is whopping $1 a day, comes with a membership community, along with continued mentoring from Michelle and me. We wrote these courses with corporations, small businesses and nervous individuals in mind.
Your blog can become your economic lifeboat riding on top of the tidal wave that will consume the unprepared and those unable or unwilling to act. Take five minutes to check out the eCourses and see if they are right for you. If not, no worries. I wish you the best of outcomes in the coming storm. If you conclude it may be right for you I look forward to welcoming you into our community.
